Most Miner Families Withdraw Complaint in Occupational Homicide Trial in Şirvan

Most of the families who had to suffer losses in the occupational homicide in Şirvan killing 16 miners in a copper mine have withdrawn their complaints. "It is obvious that the company is strong and backed by the state. Justice exists only as a word in Turkish. We did not accept this money just for pleasure”, a family member said.

All arrested suspects have been released in the trial of the occupational homicide killing 16 miners in a copper mine in Şirvan district of Siirt province.

Wreckage in Copper Mine in Şirvan

A landslide has occurred in the copper mine site in Maden village of Şirvan district of Siirt province. Two mine workers who were trapped in the wreckage have lost their lives. The search and rescue teams are trying to free the other 13 mine worker from the wreckage.
