Turkey reports 1,542 new coronavirus cases, eight deaths in a day

The Ministry of Health reported 1,542 new coronavirus cases and 8 deaths yesterday (May 9).

Some 109,958 people were tested for the virus and 1,463 people recovered from the disease in 24 hours, the figures showed.

Over 85 percent of the country's adult population have received at least two doses of the coronavirus vaccine with 27.7 million people receiving at least three jabs, according to the ministry figures.

As the number of new cases has been on the decrease, the government on April 26 lifted the indoor mask mandate except for public transport vehicles and health institutions. (VK)
