Peace Fair Gathered 15 Thousand People
Activists, artists, writers and academics organized a Peace Fair this weekend to remember and protest once again the war in Iraq. For three days, theatre and music performances, gatherings voiced hopes for peace, deeming war.
Last weekend 15 thousand people visited the "Peace Fair" organized by the Turkey's Global Coalition for Peace and Justice (Küresel BAK).
Prominent artists, writers and singers joined the fair where a photography exhibition titled "What if it was Istanbul under occupation?" has been organized.
A huge tent in colors of the rainbow has been pitched in Beşiktas, Istanbul as the fair arena.
Often theatre groups performed and music groups chanted in the tent.
At other times conversations on war, Iraq's occupation and its effects were given with attending writers, journalists and academics.
The fair ended on Sunday with a call for the Global Action Day against the war in Iraq on March 17.(AO/EÜ)
