PM Erdoğan announced the plan for a "crazy project" called "Kanal Istanbul". It envisions the construction of a 40-km canal between the Sea of Marmara and the Black Sea with a width of 150 meters and a depth of 20 meters. Environmentalists and engineers are sceptic.
