Turkey’s violence map: 3,801 incidents of armed violence, 2,145 losses of life in 2021

The Umut (Hope) Foundation has shared the 2021 Turkey Violence Map with the public: Firearms were used in 3,172 incidents and sharp objects were used in 629. 3,896 people were wounded across Turkey in these incidents.

Defining U.Y. and İ.P. as “children pushed into crime,” the court board has ruled that they shall be sentenced to 23 years, 1 month, 10 days and 22 years in prison respectively. U.Y.'s father has also been sentenced to 20 years, 4 months for “aiding the murder.”

On September 28 Individual Disarmament Day, Umut (Hope) Foundation released a statement and announced that 2,455 incidents of violence took place in Turkey in the first nine months of 2020. 2,061 of them were committed with firearms.
