Women Writers Protest NATO
The Turkey PEN Women Writers Committee announced their opposition to war and all initiatives in support of war. We are protesting NATOs initiatives which are supposedly in the name of peace, the committee said.
The Turkey PEN Women Writers' Committee protested the NATO Summit and U.S. President George W. Bush's visit to Turkey.
"Women did not start the war. But it is always the women who end up having to put up with the outcomes of war. The Turkish women have something to say about all the systems that make men privileged and that marginalize women," read the statement by the Turkey PEN Women Writers' Committee.
The committee said it was against war and all initiatives that are in support of war.
"We are protesting NATO's initiatives which are supposedly in the name of peace," said the statement. (BB/EA/YE)
