‘We Must be in Syria Until Threat is Over’, Says Minister of Defence

Minister of Defence Nurettin Canikli who was in Georgia for the Southeastern Europe Defence Ministerial Meeting (SEDM), has made a statement as to the Turkish Armed Forces (TAF entering a de-conflict zone in Syria's İdlib province and said that the TAF was supporting the Free Syrian Army (FSA).

Upon being asked by a student of a school that had been established by the Minister of National Education in the province, when the operation would be over, Canikli answered:
"God knows. Whenever the threat is over. I mean, we need to be around until the threats towards Turkey are completely over.
"There we have the Free Syrian Army with whom we cooperate [...]
"They defend their lands themselves. And we provide them support". (YY/DG)
