Three Soldiers Die in Ceylanpınar, Army Calls It “Frenzy”

Three Turkish soldiers lost their lives in the southeastern border district of Ceylanpınar during patrol duty last night.
On the other hand, Turkish Army released a statement saying that it was due to a “frantic” soldier who killed his colleagues and himself amid allegations that a shooting was made from the other side of the border in Syria.
The statement went on to inform that Prosecutor’s Office would make a detailed investigation.
Army: Not a “terrorist” attack
Urfa Governor İzzettin Küçük also released a statement prior to military authorities, saying that they were considering all possibilities and an investigations has been launched.
“We are investigating how our soldiers fell martyrs. The possibility of a shooting from the Syrian side is also within our investigation,” the statement said.
On the other hand, Turkish Army also added in their statement that the incident was not a “terrorist” attack and concerned a soldier having “frenzy” and killing two soldiers and himself. (EÖ/BM)
