Soldier loses his life after stepping on landmine in Hakkari

A soldier who was wounded after stepping on a landmine during a military operation in the Kurdish-majority eastern province of Hakkari has lost his life, according to the state-run Anadolu Agency.

Private Selim Gedik was wounded during the operation on January 20 and lost his life yesterday while receiving treatment at the Gülhane Training and Research Hospital in İstanbul.

Releasing a statement, the Minister of National Defense offered condolences to the soldier's family. (EMK/VK)
