A statement has been made by the Human Rights Association (İHD) in front of the building of TRT İstanbul Radio. The association members have unfurled a banner reading “September 12 continues: No to Coups! Democracy Now! Human Rights Now!”.
In the statement read out by İHD İstanbul Branch Chair Gülseren Yoleri against September 12 coup, it was stated that “State of Emergency and restriction of freedom of expression is a practice of coup regime”.
Yurteri said, “38 years passed over September 12 coup. The coup constitution dated 1982 is still in effect and the coup institutions are still in charge”.
Yoleri recalled the heavy loss of the State of Emergency, which she described as “remnant of coup” and was extended for seven times.
Touching upon the ban on 700th rally of Saturday Mothers/People as well, Yoleri said, “The picture is clear; name of the State of Emergency is gone but its practices have become permanent and September 12 continues”. (HA/TK)
