Prof. Neumann Resigns Following Dismissal of Bilgi Academic
Prof. Dr. Neumann has resigned from his post following the dismissal of Prof. Dr. Balıkçıoğlu from Bigli University over ‘insulting the President’.

Prof. Dr. Christoph K. Neumann from İstanbul Bilgi University has protested lay off of his colleague, Prof. Dr. Zeynep Sayın Balıkçıoğlu by resigning.

İstanbul Bilgi University had laif off Prof. Dr. Balıkçıoğlu over insulting the President. Pro-government Sabah daily had pointed the academic as a target on its article dater June 15. Bilgi University had laid off the academic by the daily’s report and issued a statement.
Prof. Neumann in his resignation letter stating that this was a “political execution”, criticized the university for not protecting academic freedoms.
