Monitoring Process Ends
The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe AKPM is expacted to terminate the monitoring process which it imposed on Turkey for 8 years. This decision has a vital meaning to commence membership negotiations with the EU.
Turkey is expected to get rid of the monitoring process, at the meeting of AKPM to be held today. AKPM which was expected to make this decision in April, suspended that, after former DEP deputies Leyla Zana and her friends was sentenced to prison once more.
When the monitoring process ends, "post-monitoring" system is to proceed.
The report of AKPM said that the 10 % passing grade should be decreased and the reforms on unions, political parties, local administrations should be completed.(YE)
