Journalist Coşkun Appears Before Judge Over ‘Defaming Turkishness’

First hearing of Cumhuriyet newspaper correspondent Canan Coşkun, who is charged with “Defaming Turkishness, Republic of Turkey, the state’s bodies and institutions” due to one of her articles was held today.
Coşkun attended the hearing after observing Hrant Dink trial as a journalist.
Coşkun’s article was about a truck full of weapons hidden under onions. The article states that a person named Doğan Güneş citing a lieutenant claims that the truck was related to the National Intelligence Agency.
The trial will resume on April 13, 2017. (EA/TK)
