HDP’s 3 Co-Mayors in Van Arrested
HDP’s Muradiye District Co-Mayor Yılmaz Şalan and Özalp District Co-Mayors Dilan Örenci and Yakup Almaç have been arrested. They were taken into custody in house raids in Turkey’s eastern province of Van on December 6.

Detained in house raids conducted in Turkey's eastern province of Van on December 6, Peoples' Democratic Party's (HDP) Muradiye District Co-Mayor Yılmaz Şalan and Özalp District Co-Mayors Dilan Örenci and Yakup Almaç were arrested yesterday (December 9).
HDP's other Muradiye District Co-Mayor Leyla Balkan and its Başkale District Co-Mayor have been released on probation.
The mayors have been charged with "membership of a terrorist organization" and propagandizing for a terrorist organization".
Speaking at the Parliament yesterday before HDP's three co-mayors were arrested, HDP Co Chair Pervin Buldan announced that HDP's 17 dismissed co-mayors were behind bars. (EKN/SD)
