Gülmen, Özakça on Hunger Strike Undergo Medical Examination on ECtHR’s Demand

Nuriye Gülmen and Semih Özakça who have been on a hunger strike for 141 days demanding reinstatement to their jobs after being discharged through a statutory decree have undergone a medical examination in Ankara Numune Hospital upon demand by the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR).
Ankara Chamber of Medicine Executive Board member Dr. Onur Naci Karahan whom we have talked about the latest development has stated that the examination progress had improved independently and that authorities from Ankara Chamber of Medicine were not allowed in the examination.
Engin Gökoğlu, one of the attorneys of Gülmen and Özakça stated that information regarding the medical examination was expected to be released to public later. (EKN/DG)
