Greenpeace: US Go Home
Greenpeace activists chained themselves to the truck they brought into the port of Iskenderun on the Mediterrenian, where the US military has been unloading soldiers and military equipment. They demanded that the US soldiers leave Turkey immediately.
Greenpeace activists arrived in the port of Iskenderun in the early hours of the morning, blocked the entrance of the port with a truck and chained themselves to it.
The banners on the truck said "No to War" and "ABD go home" in both Turkish and English, these also were the slogans they shouted.
Their spokesperson Banu Dokmecibasi stated that they are against US intervention in Iraq and they demand that the US soldiers leave Turkey immediately.
It took the police half an hour to unchain and arrest them; some of the activists were wounded in the process. The immobilized truck could not be moved for a long time. (BB/BE/NM)
