German Journalist Hinsch Detained for Three Days

German freelance photojournalist Robin Hinsch (38 years old) has been kept in the guesthouse of Urfa Provincial Directorate of Security on the grounds that he trespassed Syria-Turkey border.
Photojournalist, working for Der Spiegel from time to time, was detained on 5 May at 11 a.m.
“MİT interrogated us for one and half day without sleep”
Bianet contacted with Hisch. He said a Brazilian photojournalist and an American journalist had been kept in guesthouse with him and they were interrogated by intelligence officers and they couldn’t sleep for one and half day.
“We have been taken into custody for trespassing Syria-Turkey border. National Intelligence Organization (MİT) officers questioned us. They didn’t let us to sleep. They once looked the photos that I took with my camera. I still don’t know what will happen to us,” Hinsch said.
Waiting for an answer from Directorate General of Migration Management
Bianet contacted with authorities of Urfa Provincial Directorate of Security. Authorities stated that they made a written statement to Ministry of Interior’s Directorate General of Migration Management and were waiting for an answer from them.
"They may get deported”
It was stated by the authorities that there wasn’t any detention, journalists were kept under surveillance until they got an answer from Directorate General of Migration Management and added that they could get deported. (EÖ/BD)
