Living in the Syriac village of Mehre (Kovankaya) in Beytüşşebap in Şırnak, Hurmuz and Şimoni Diril have been missing since January 11.
While the search operations for the missing couple can continue with drones due to unfavorable weather conditions, the prosecutor's office has reportedly imposed a confidentiality order on their file.
The fate and whereabouts of the couple have been unknown since January 11. Peoples' Democratic Party's (HDP) Syriac Mardin MP Tuma Çelik is currently in Şırnak for the missing couple.
Speaking to bianet about the issue yesterday (January 16), Çelik said that a confidentiality order was imposed on the file by the prosecutor's office.
He also indicated that search operations could be conducted only by air due to unfavorable weather conditions.
'Their village is usually a forbidden zone"
Informing us that the missing couple resided in both their village and İstanbul, Çelik said, "Apart from the Diril couple who has got missing, there is only one person living in the village. This other person is a relative of theirs.
"The village is in a mountainous terrain, it is a military zone and usually forbidden. Due to winter conditions, we as well as their family members have difficulties in reaching the village. The family members are deeply worried, they cannot reach the region, either." (RT/SD)
